The Marriage Between
‘Once Saved Always Saved’ And ‘Jesus Did It All’
(January 2000; modified July 2004
)
There is widespread belief in the Body of Christ that when Jesus died on the
cross He took care of everything and we don’t have to do anything – anything
that is, but say the "sinner’s prayer" and go on living like we want to. Eternal
Security they call it – Once Saved, Always Saved/Jesus Did It All (OSAS/JDIA).
How did the people come to think like this when God’s Word nowhere states such.
If one doesn't have God in their life, that person is on the path of eternal
damnation because of sin and not being reconciled to God. And it’s the same for
one who supposedly is reconciled to God but yet has sin in their life;
that person also is on the path of eternal damnation. How can that be the path
that one travels if "once saved, always saved" and "Jesus did it all" are
Scriptural? There is a lot wrong with the “Eternal Security” doctrine – OSAS/JDIA.
First, The Bible is written to professing Christians warning us
not to sin and is not written to the sinners of the world. Second,
the Bible warns us to “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the
gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many
there be which go in thereat…” (Matthew 7:13). Third,
professing Christians who sin repeatedly obviously don’t have The Holy Ghost
making His abode in them because God can’t dwell where sin is. The Matthew 7:13
verse of Scripture is SPEAKING TO US – Born Again Christians! Yes, because The
Bible is written to us professing Christians/Born Again Believers, and not to
the world who doesn’t profess Christianity. That verse of Scripture alone makes
the belief in Eternal Security for Born Again-ers a lie straight from hell.
OSAS/JDIA doctrine is validated by adages such as…
|
"We do not
lose our salvation, because we are saved by grace" |
|
Being saved by
grace doesn’t mean that we sit on our backsides and Jesus will take care of
the rest. God will never-ever override our “free will” which tells us that
we have choices to make. |
|
"We don’t have to do works because Jesus did it all" |
|
We have
something to do – works as in choices – choosing to sin or not to sin.
|
|
"We cannot
be plucked out of His hands" |
|
No, we cannot
be plucked out of God’s hands, but we fall out of His hands on our own
because we open ourselves up to sin. |
|
"The Lord will never leave us nor forsake us" |
|
No, He’ll never leave us nor forsake us, but we turn our backs on Him as we open ourselves up to sin. |
If there wasn’t more to being saved than just going on with our lives and letting Jesus do it all, then we would be puppets and we could just trash THE BIBLE. There would be absolutely no need for THE BIBLE We have to meet certain prerequisites before we can possess the kingdom. If we have choices to make, and we’re not moving in the Holy Spirit, but in the flesh, those choices are demonically influenced and that spells sin. Sin hinders our possession of the kingdom. If one dies in their sin, doesn’t the Bible say that the person goes to hell. Unsaved and sinning; saved and sinning – either way, if that person dies in their sin, it’s eternal damnation according to The Bible.
Saved By Grace
We are indeed saved by the lovingkindness or grace of God. Grace in Hebrew is chen, and it means kindness or favor, from the Hebrew word chahan which means to have pity upon. God had pity upon us lost sinners and made a way for us to avert hell in the end. He drew up His plan of salvation which included giving up His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die for us, thus redeeming us from the curse of The Law. To sum up grace, expectation of us walking upright before The Lord is what comes with that free gift of salvation, after which, WE HAVE TO DO OUR PART – WORK TO REMAIN IN COVENANT WITH HIM.
Not only are we saved because of the lovingkindness of God but because of our absolute faith and total trust in Him alone without looking to the arms of man. Jesus, Himself, in Mark 16:16-18 describes the Believer of faith. This Believer of faith doesn’t just say he believes, but he walks in what he believes – The Bible. Walking in faith is ones faith coupled with works. Works? Yes, works, but not the carnal works of The Law that Jesus replaced, but works of choosing to do what is morally right as walking in obedience to God’s Word.
Saints, we do have works to do that weren’t done by Christ on the cross. Our works are obedience to the Word of The Lord – our choosing to live righteous and holy over living a life of sin. Our works are us putting forth the effort to not sin before God. Our rewards, in the end, will be based on our works – righteousness that doesn’t just automatically happen. The Hebrew word for works is maaseh and it means an action (good or bad). So that you, dear Saints, will know the difference between the works Jesus did, which cannot be done again, and the works that we Born Again Believers are required to do until we face Jesus, look at the Scriptures below that make it painfully clear to you that God’s people have work to do.
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work [choices he makes in life] (Psalm 62:12).
Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works [choices] with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties (Psalm 141:4).
If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works [choices he makes in life] (Proverb 24:12).
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works [choices he made in life] were evil, and his brother's righteous (I John 3:12).
there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments [choose to obey them] (Matthew 19:17).
If ye love me, keep my commandments [choose to obey them] (John 14:15).
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them [choose to obey them], he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him (John 14:21).
If ye keep my commandments [choose to obey them], ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love (John 15:10).
In summary, God’s Word puts us on notice that we have our part to do – works, and that our works or the choices we make in life will be judged. We have to choose to obey God’s Word/Commandments or disobey. This judgment will determine if we go to the left with the goats or to the right with the Sheep.
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works [your actions in regard to the decision to be righteous and holy – disobedient to God] (Matthew 16:27).
Saints, these are not works of righteousness that we did to bring us to salvation. No, that cannot be done. When God knocked on the door of our hearts, we had to chose to open up and let Him in. Once He got in, He presented His case to us, filthy as we were, and then He told us the criterion we had to meet or the effort/work we had to put forth before He would, by His lovingkindness/grace, give us a chance to possess the kingdom in the end. So, we had to meet certain conditions to become Born Again, and we have to meet certain conditions for God to make and keep us as True Born Again-ers headed toward possessing the kingdom. No, it’s not OSAS/JDIA, but as free moral agents, we have works to do – choosing to obey God’s Word or not – choosing to sin or not sin.
The gift of salvation has hinged to it, "faith" and holy living (in Jesus Christ). Faith in Jesus is believing Him; believing all of His Word; and walking in all of His Word. This means not selecting to believe what we want and live like we want. Should we choose to live life our way and not God's prescribed way, then we lose. Matthew 8:12 tells us that the children of the Kingdom (Church people) shall be cast out into outer darkness due to lack of faith/unbelief. We are free moral agents who choose to believe or not to believe all of God's Word and walk in it. If we believe it, we will obey it. John 3:15 reads, "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." First of all, our believing in Jesus is having faith in Him for our salvation, but still does not end with saying the sinner’s prayer. That is just the beginning. We have to study the Word for ourselves to possess God’s truths and to believe them. Yes, "that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" is so, but who are they that believe? The lock opener is "believe." The Believer as described by Jesus in Mark 16:16-18 is, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” This type of Believer doesn’t get this kind of faith automatically slapped upon them, but this is only after they put forth the effort by making the choice to believe whole-heartedly what the Word of God says and to obey it.
Interjection: We get the victory over sin through Holy Ghost baptism. The OSAS/JDIA church-goers don’t believe that Mark 16:16-18 and the Holy Ghost demonstrations of Acts are for today. They say that was just for getting The Church started and it went out with the Apostles. They don’t know the difference between being sealed and being filled with the Holy Ghost. The latter requires complete surrender and is evidenced by speaking in tongues. Otherwise, how else can one get into the Spirit to worship and commune with God in Spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). One who is not totally surrendered to God, is an open target for Satan, and easily finds a haven in the false doctrine of OSAS/JDIA.
The Law And The Finished Work Of Christ
The first error the Believer makes is in misunderstanding (1) what God’s Law is, and (2) that it was nailed to the cross with Jesus. The Law is God’s Word; it’s God speaking to His people – speaking to us. Nailed to the cross with Jesus was a "segment" of The Law which contained the carnal ordinances (Hebrews 10) of works. Those works or law of commandments commanded that gifts and sacrifices be made for sin through the meat of goats, calves, bulls, and divers washings. These things are all considered dead works of The Law because Christ shed His sweet, precious blood for our sins which means, we no longer do the works of offering for our sins. (In The Catholic Church, doing penance for sin is offerings of works for forgiveness, and is not acceptable before God because Jesus did take care of that on the cross.) Please understand, Jesus was not telling a lie when He said,
Think not that I am come to destroy the law [God’s high holy standard]…I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil [that pertaining to sin atonement]. For verily [truly] I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (Matthew 5:17-18).
The carnal ordinances of works and washings was the only substitution of God’s Law that He allowed. As the Hebrew children of old had to live holy by choosing not to sin, we, The Church, have to as well. The only difference between them of old and us today is that, we don’t have to deal with the carnal sacrifices and washings after the crucifixion of Jesus.
The Law of God is now on the fleshly tables of our heart – our spirit – our inner man – it is not dead because it has dominion over us as long as we live, and it does so because it’s God’s Word right from His mouth about who He is, who the enemy is, who we are, and what He, God, expects of us if we hope to be with Him in the end. The Law is now in our spirits or inner-man and not on tables of stone. However, The Law/The Bible/God’s High Holy Standard, will not come alive in our hearts if it is not actually opened and read so that our spirits are activated, thus enabling us to walk in His Word and choose to do right over wrong.
As Born Again Believers, we should be walking in absolute faith since we have radically committed our whole life to God’s will and way – salvation. The word salvation is not a New Testament term, but it goes back to the Old Testament. The Hebrew word for salvation is yesha and it means liberty or deliverance. Jesus the Christ is Yeshua HaMachiach – Jesus The Messiah, the Anointed One and the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is the Deliverer. Salvation is liberty from sin and deliverance from the author of sin – Satan. Being saved means turning away from sin and living like Jesus lived while on earth. Of course none of us have the power to save ourselves but are totally reliant upon God, The Rock of our salvation, to deliver us from the slavery of sin. He, God, delivered us through the saving work of Jesus Christ’s shed blood unto death, but we still have to make choices to sin or not - works. .
Saints, because of the finished work of Christ, whoever is born of God does not sin as I John 3:9 tells us. This means, Born Again-ers do not repeatedly sin; or willfully sin, day-in and day-out; week-in and week-out. Christ’s on-going work in us is keeping us from committing sin because His seed remains in us, which is why we have heavy conviction of heart when we give thought to sin. Understand me, that’s not to say, that we don’t have the choice to commit sin or not. Free moral agents, we are, remember. Ultimately, after conviction, we make the choice to go ahead and sin or not. If we love Him, we’ll obey His will as we’re convicted in our hearts. God is more than able to keep us if we are willing to keep ourselves in obedience to His Word by saying "no" to sin. That is how the Born Again Believer does not shamelessly sin, in fact, cannot sin for fear of hurting The Lord.
Man As A Free Moral Agent, And His Will
the will is the great moving, acting power of the soul…it lies at the foundation of moral character. Without the will we could never obey or disobey any Divine command. We could never do anything, good or evil. (Lectures on Christian Theology by Enoch Pond, D.D. Congregational Board of Publications, Boston, 1867, p. 261.)
The will in Christians is to choose what is morally right over what is morally wrong. This is an effort – this is work or labor. Saints, we cannot go through life fortuitously believing Jesus did it all and we have nothing to do, because we’re saved no matter what. Saints, God’s Word, The Bible, is Covenant, and as with any covenant, it is conditional. With God, however, He will do all that He says He will do provided we do what He prescribed in The Bible for us to do. Remember, The Bible is written to us, covenant people/Born Again-ers, and not to the sinners of the world. God has yet set before His people the choice of life or death; blessing and cursing, and urges us through His Word to choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19). No, that was not just for the Hebrew children and nor was it nailed to the cross with Jesus. As long as we live and are free moral agents, we will have to make the choice between life without sin or death by sin; blessing and cursing.
A free moral agent makes decisions to obey or not to obey God’s Word. If man is not a free moral agent, then yes, he would be a puppet in life and the puppeteer would either be God or Satan pulling the strings, but God never intended it that way. (God wants us to love and serve Him because we choose to love Him; not forced.) If God made us puppets, there would be no choices to make. If it is OSAS/JDIA, then the Believer has no choices to make. Keep in mind, making choices is work – it’s putting into action your decision to do or not to do something. The below Scriptures (a very few) are testimony that the Born Again Believer is a free moral agent that must "work" by making choices in doing what is morally right before God, or else is held accountable for sinning by choosing death and curses.
I have set before you life and death…therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live (Deuteronomy 30:19). – YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE TO WANT ETERNAL LIFE, WHICH MEANS YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE THE CHOICE TO DO WHAT IS MORALLY RIGHT AT ALL TIMES, AND AT ANY COST!
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord… (Isaiah 1:18). In verse 19 God says, if you are willing and obedient – YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE TO NO LONGER WANT SIN IN YOUR LIFE!
Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin (Ezekiel 18:30). – YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE TO STOP BREAKING GOD’S LAW, HIS HIGH HOLY STANDARD OR ELSE IT IS DEATH!
YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE TO DO WHAT IS MORALLY RIGHT BEFORE GOD!
So you see, Born Again Believers, we cannot get away with believing that Jesus’ finished work on the cross means we are "eternally secured" no matter how we walk in life. We cannot get away with freely having sex outside of marriage, going to Happy Hour and getting "high", in some cases, drunk, and believe we have got it made with God, and that we will possess the kingdom as Jesus rules and reigns. It’s a lie, and repentance is in order. Those denominations preaching the OSAS/JDIA doctrine are deceiving God’s people.
Saints, we have to choose (Psalm 25:12) the way to go, and we do so based on God’s teachings in His Word that should be down in our hearts. That is why it is so important to read The Bible, daily. It positively is our bread of life. The simple reason that we make choices means that there are consequences for bad choices, and rewards for good choices. If our choices are always the opposite of what God has instructed in His Word, we are fallen short and the end is not good. The end not being good, is not the simple matter of not getting a reward (Revelation 22:12), but the serious matter of receiving eternal damnation – hell – our names blotted out of the Lamb’s Book of Life. Remember the Bible is not written to those not professing Christianity, but is written to us professing Christians. Those are our directions that we are to make every effort to (1) choose to follow, and (2) actually do.
We have to make choices and the only way we can is as free moral agents as God ordained us to be. The understanding of being a free moral agent and making choices is as simple as God giving us the breath of life each day, but leaving it up to us to rise from the bed and begin the day – it is our mind (soul) directing our bodies to go about the order of the day. This is an effort/work that we have to choose to do. When God gave us Salvation, it did not stop there with the Born Again confession. If it had, then the doctrine of OSAS/JDIA would be Scriptural. It didn’t and we have our part to do – our effort/work. Get up off your religious "butt end" and operate as an accountable FREE MORAL AGENT, choosing to live holy and righteous because it pleases God, and will prevent your going through that wide gate to hell. Work!!!!!!!
John 10, John 17 And OSAS/JDIA
My sheep hear my voice [Born Again-ers adhere to The Bible], and I know them, and they follow me [Born Again-ers choose to obey The Bible]: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one (John 10:27-30).
Saints, that Scripture is true, but The Lord is not saying in that Scripture that because He gives eternal life, we’ll never perish. It is all conditional… It is all subject to… However you read it, we have our part to do before we are eternally secured. The Lord said, we hear His voice and that means we don’t just read the Bible, but we stick to the teachings of The Bible. Saints, us hearing His voice is a condition. He goes on to say that we follow Him. Following Him is being obedient to His Word of instructions in The Bible. To be obedient means putting forth an effort/work to live holy lives. This effort/work is to make the choice to do what is morally right. If it is all of the above, with being eternally secured based on conditions, we cannot believe that "we’ve got it made in the sun" and all we have to do is rest our "backsides" because "Jesus did it all".
You know what else, Saints? When The Lord says no man can pluck you out of His hands nor the Fathers, He is absolutely right. No man/demon can take you out of God’s hand, but YOU remove yourself from God’s hand by walking in disobedience by doing what your flesh dictates. YOU remove yourself from God’s hand when you continue in the erroneous interpretation of "saved by grace and not by works" to mean that you can continue to live as you will, because Jesus has already taken care of everything on your behalf. As a believer of OSAS/JDIA, you won’t be plucked out of God’s hand, because you go willingly into Satan’s bosom. There now, John 10 does not support OSAS/JDIA.
And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are….I have given them thy word [truths/Bible]; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world…I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil…Sanctify them through thy truth [make them holy or pure through God’s teachings]: thy word is truth (John 17:11-19).
The author, William W. Orr used the above verses of Scripture to justify eternal security by making the following statement:
Is it not right and proper to inquire…can any prayer of the Son of God go unanswered? Is there any petition which came from the lips of our Lord which the Father must refuse? The answer of course is "No." For the Son always asked for those things which the Father purposed. His expressed petition was always the Father’s expressed will. So when our precious Lord earnestly petitioned for the safekeeping of His eleven loved ones we know that this petition was sure of an affirmative answer for this too was the Father’s will. But our Lord had not only His present disciples in mind:
‘Neither pray I for these alone, but for them [Born Again Believers] also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us (John 17:20-21)’
Here are our names in the Lord’s prayer. And the petition is that we shall be kept… safe… secure… eternally. (Can A Saved Person Even Be Lost? William W. Orr. Van Kampen Press, Wheaton, IL 19--, P. 9.)
Going back to those verses of Scripture, true,
Jesus included all Believers in that prayer as well; and true, He prayed for our
security. But, the security in this prayer has hinges on it beginning in verse
11 "that they may be one, as we are". The meaning of that is, anything
pertaining to God and in The Father and The son, MUST BE HOLY. To be holy means
to make moral choices based upon God’s given truths – His Word. Saints, God has
given us His truths – His Word – His High Holy Standard – THE BIBLE for us to
obey. This Bible is written to and for us, and not the unsaved. Again, since the
Bible is to us, we have got to abide in His Word – remain in His Word by walking
in it. To do so is to live by choosing to do what is morally right, which means
Jesus’ prayer, in that we’re kept SAFE—SECURE—ETERNALLY, provided we live holy
lives. So, John 17 does not support OSAS.
Fruit Bearing And OSAS/JDIA
I am the true vine [Jesus], and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch [Born Again-ers] in me that beareth not fruit [works of righteousness] he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide [stay in Jesus] in me, and I in you [allow Christ to live His life in you to the fullest]. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth [stays in Jesus] in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man [Believer] abide not in me [not walking in God’s ways], he is cast forth as a branch [the Believer is now without God], and is withered [experiences spiritual death]; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire [Hell], and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words [Biblical instructions/Word] abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples (John 15:1-8).
Christ is clearly speaking to mankind about mankind’s lifestyle and not about the end result of that lifestyle – fruit/works, that will be burned. Let’s look at what a OSAS/JDIA believer has to say about the above referenced Scriptures.
Never in the Bible is the Christian’s standing shown to be dependent upon his bearing fruit. The entire message of grace is that salvation is given freely by a loving God since Christ has died. The idea that the believer should in any way reciprocate by a life or fruit for the redemption he has received is utterly foreign to the gospel. If it were possible that anything could alter the believer’s position in Christ (see Romans 8:35-39) it would be deliberate and willful sin, never failure to bear fruit.
What then is the teaching of this verse? Simply that there are some Christian lives lived, some ‘branches’ produced by Christians which will not stand the test of God’s evaluation. The fruit which endures is the fruit which is produced by abiding in Christ. If the believer does not abide in Christ he produced no fruit. Therefore at the time of the judgment seat of Christ his ‘branch’ (life lived, service offered) will be burned away (i.e., will amount to nothing, will merit no rewards). He will be saved because his salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, but his service will deserve no crowns.
The same thought is advanced under a different figure in the following passage:
‘Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work shall abide…he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire (1 Corinthians 3:13, 14).’
In no wise does the John 15:6 passage teach that salvation may be lost but that the only abiding service is that which is wrought by abiding in Christ. (Can a Saved Person Ever Be Lost? By William W. Orr. Van Kampen Press, Wheaton, IL, 19--, p. 22.)
If one is not abiding in Christ it is demonstrated by the fruits of the flesh and not of the spirit. Typically, this person is known to be one who engages in sin. One not abiding in Christ has made the choice to disobey God’s instructions in holiness and is clearly a lost soul. To be quite honest, a large number of professing Born Again-ers of the OSAS/JDIA persuasion are more often than not, seen engaging in sin and will be the first to yell out, "Oh, I’m a Christian." These are the people that see innocence in sex outside of marriage because "God will forgive and, I’m always saved." I have come across the paths of too many people of the OSAS/JDIA persuasion that frequently engage in sex outside of marriage with not just one partner, but numerous. (This brings to mind a young lady that goes to church every Sunday and sleeps with every young man she dates, which is frequent.) It is easy for them to engage in such because they have been taught that Jesus did it all and all they have to do is go their merry way because once saved, you’re always saved. The Kingdom of God begins here on earth with our faith in God and His Word, and our walking in His Word, and it ends with possessing the kingdom while Jesus rules and reigns. So-called Believers in the doctrine of OSAS/JDIA will not inherit the Kingdom of God unless they repent, and bear the fruit of the Spirit as a result of obeying God's Word.
If Sin Separates Us From God, How Can OSAS/JDIA Be Scriptural?
As Christians, whose hope is in Christ, one must "purifieth himself [Christians], even as he [Christ] is pure" (I John 3:3). From that verse of Scripture, you can safely conclude that you have got to do something and doing something is spiritual work/labor on our part to purify "self." Again, as a free moral agent, we have to make choices with regard to living holy – opting to do morally right in God’s eyes. We cannot just sit back believing we have nothing to do because Jesus did it for us. If that were the case, what would be the need for God to judge our sins? Sins? Yes, because at some point decisions have been made to do or not do something morally wrong – SIN!
A Short List Of Very Common Sins Of OSAS/JDIA Believers
Sex outside of marriage • Foul language • Drugs • Observance of false holy days • Greed • Slavery • Divorce and remarriage • Racial hatred and segregation • Worldly music • Lying • Off-colored jokes • Mean-spirited • Cheating • Adultery • Worldly movies • Deceit • Alcohol/happy hour • Arrogance • KKK membership • Masonic membership, to name a few. Sins like these in the so-called Born Again-er’s life is because of the teaching and belief that no matter what and how much he does sin-wise: He is still God’s child; He still has the Holy Ghost in him; and He will forever be in the presence of The Lord.
The fact of the matter is, with all of that sinning in a person’s life, if there is no true repentance,
1. God turns that person over to a reprobate mind;
2. Fellowship with God is broken until there is repentance;
3. The Holy Spirit will not dwell in that temple of sin and will therefore leave;
4. God’s hedge of protection is removed from around that person;
5. The sinner’s joy is lost; and
6. If that person dies in his sins, he makes hell his home.
So-called Born Again-ers like this have obviously "chosen" to live after the flesh because God surely didn’t direct them to do so. Please, Saints, how can we live a life of sin and still be strong in our walk with God? We can’t! Remember, this Word of God’s is written to us, Born Again Saints, those of us Bible-reading, Church-going, prayer closet people. It’s written to us, and not those outside this way of life called Christianity. OSAS/JDIA is a hellish doctrine that is leading many of God’s people straight to hell because it doesn’t make one want to be holy. Why be holy, you’re going to forever be in the presence of The Lord anyway? So you believe.
You fail to know that yes, God is long-suffering, but He will not contend with us forever – HE WILL NOT TOLERATE SIN AND REBELLION, especially from those who call themselves His people. He quit winking the eye at sin 2,000-plus years ago. Persistent sin is death to all no matter if the sinner’s prayer was prayed or not.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall [and afterward, truly repents], he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand (Psalm 37:23-24).
A good man is an obedient man to God’s instructions. "Ordered by the Lord" means this good man uses God’s Word to guide him through life. The steps or direction in life that the Believer chooses is by God’s guidance. No, Saints, we cannot sit on our buttocks believing it’s OSAS/JDIA and we have nothing to do because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross. That’s sin! OSAS/JDIA does not make Believers want to be holy as God is holy, it in fact does just the opposite.
We Can’t Be Holy Without Doing Our Part - Works
We don’t automatically become holy just because we say the "sinner’s prayer". Too many so-called Christians believe that, and that’s why we see them joyfully going to Happy Hour after work; vicious and backbiting in the office; avid listeners to jazz and rock music in their cars and at home; watching all types of trashy movies; members of oath-taking organization; etc. No, holiness in God’s people does not just happen because one says the sinner’s prayer.
Genesis to Revelation instructs us in how we must obey and walk in faith and holiness, but many church-going people, who are supposedly saved, have never read The Bible in its entirety. They don’t know God and they don’t know His Word. How can they ever expect to become holy? They don’t understand and know His personality! They cannot, I repeat, cannot have faith, which, without, it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). That is very painful to The Lord. How would you like to have someone calling themselves your child and yet, they don’t even believe what you say? Because they don’t believe you, they don’t obey your commandments. Ask God about it, He knows all to well about those types of children that run around quoting a bunch of Scriptures. Quoting a bunch of Scriptures means nothing, while at the same time believing that the Book of Acts is not for today. The Church of Jesus Christ must know the Word of God and walk in it. The Church must want to obey God because they love Him so much that they want to do things His way and not their way. His will be done! This is how holiness develops in a Believer. The Believer first begins to choose to do right by God and His Word.
Living holy is not just for Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, but always. God said, He is holy and we must be holy also (Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:16). If we had not our part to do in being holy, why did God waste His time instructing us to do so in His Word? If we didn’t have our part to do, what would be the need for the Scripture that reads, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent” (Revelations 3:19)? Think, why should He rebuke us if we’re not responsible for choosing to do right over doing wrong? If as Believers, we do not have our part to do, why on God’s green earth is the word "repent" in the Bible? Why should God chasten us if Jesus did it all, and all we have to do is ‘nothing’? Being holy is living a godly life. Repeat – we do not automatically become holy. We make the choice (works/efforts/actions) to be holy by doing those things in life that please God, and God takes care of the rest. Covenant, remember.
In Closing, Ms. So-And-So, There Are Erasers In Heaven
We can lose our salvation. Satan and the angels that rebelled against God IN HEAVEN lost theirs; the rebellious Hebrew children in the wilderness lost theirs; and so can we lose ours due to our unfaithfulness and disobedience. Who would be more saved than those already in Heaven (angels)? But, if one is disobedient, he is unfaithful – unholy. Without complete faith in God, there is no eternal salvation because “without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6).
You cannot tell me that Judas wasn’t saved when Jesus brought him in as an Apostle. If Judas had not been saved, He could not have been an Apostle. You see, Judas was probably believing OSAS/JDIA so he continued sinning a little here and a little there, until finally, God turned Judas over to a reprobate mind and Satan took over. It wasn’t that Jesus was unable to keep Judas, or that Judas was plucked out of Jesus’ hand, but Judas, as a free moral agent, made the choice to do what was morally wrong. Having done so, Judas paid the price. Satan, as usual, was there to rob, kill and destroy, and thus after robbing him of his salvation, brought Judas to commit suicide. By committing suicide, Judas had no chance to repent, and he went to hell because he died in his sin. (You never know the day nor hour. Death isn’t in the business of sending out notices to sinners. That’s why Believers must make the choice to live holy and to live as though each day is the last.) The thing about sin is that (1) it takes you farther than you want to go; (2) makes you stay longer than you want to stay; and (3) makes you do the things you don’t want to do. What about Ananias and Sapphira? They were Born Again Believers, and were also liars. Revelation 21:8 says that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. It appears that OSAS/JDIA has lost its case – it’s not Scriptural.
Adhering to the OSAS/JDIA doctrine is harmful. It’s harmful because it makes the so-called Believer so relaxed and "laid-back" when it comes to living a life of holiness. This doctrine weakens conviction of sin in the Believer’s life, thus bringing the Believer to see sin less detestable. When one is either compromising of sin, or does not hate sin too much, it’s easy for that one to give in to sin. Living life in a casual style of pleasing the flesh rather than God, is not based on Scripture. The Scriptures tell us that we can fall. Should we fall and not truly repent, our names will be removed from the Book of Life.
1. We can fall into the sins that the worldly people fall into, but if we remain firm and unwavering in our walk – efforts/works on our part, it will not be possible. It's not OSAS/JDIA!
2. God didn’t spare Israel because of their sin of unbelief, and we must beware, for the same can happen to us. It's not OSAS/JDIA!
3. The goodness of God is toward the Believer if He continues in his goodness – not sinning as he pleases. otherwise, that so-called Believer will be cut-off – no longer God’s child. It's not OSAS/JDIA!
4. We have got work to do if we want to be presented to God as holy. We have got to remain grounded and settled in faith. We have got to make the effort/work to become and remain holy. It's not OSAS/JDIA!
5. Because we have been a partaker of God’s infinite goodness, we can fall away by our sinful life when we think we are eternally secured. It's not OSAS/JDIA!

|
But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers (Luke 12:45-46). |
We have to do our part now that we have been called. Depending on what we do or how we live is surety that we will or will not be chosen in the end. The Scripture tells us that we will not fall provided we do right. Remember the Scripture, "many are called but few will be chosen." That is written to us in the Church of Jesus Christ. It's not OSAS/JDIA! We cannot
continue living as the flesh dictates because when He comes for us, while we
are unaware, He will break us apart from Him violently, sending you to hell
with the rest of the unbelievers. It's not OSAS/JDIA! |
|
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries (Hebrews 10:26-27). |
Willfully sinning will bring judgment and fiery indignation (burning rage) upon the determined opponent of a life of holiness. It's not OSAS/JDIA! |
|
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14) |
We will be cut off from God if we are contentious and unholy. It's not OSAS/JDIA! From the sound
of this Scripture, it is not OSAS/JDIA, but we have our part to do –
effort/work, and we have to do it now, as we live in this present world. We
have to resist doing ungodly things. We have to resist the attraction to the
worldly things. If those things we want to do don’t bring glory to God, say
no to them. We have to choose to do the righteous and holy things in this
present world. To choose is to work – it’s action. It's not OSAS/JDIA!

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels (Revelation 3:5). |
If we get the victory over sin in our lives, God will not remove our name from the Book of Life, but if we continue in our sin, our names will be removed from the Lamb’s Book of Life. It's not OSAS/JDIA! |
In those Scriptures, God is speaking to Born Again-ers, and more particular, those indebted to the doctrine of OSAS/JDIA. The Scriptures bare witness that that doctrine is of Satan and your salvation is in jeopardy. If sin separates us from God, how can we live life as we please and believe that we are saved no matter what state we die in? Somebody is lying and it surely isn’t God, for He cannot lie. OSAS/JDIA is a lying doctrine of Devils. Saints, God has given us, as free moral agents, the responsibility to live holy and separate from the world. He will not force us to do so, nor override what we decide to do, but He will part ways with us. Believers walking through life with this doctrine beholden to the heart are in error, and God is not with them.
So that your name will not be blotted out of the Lamb's Book of Life, give up all resemblance of the world. Believe all of God's Word and walk in it. Stop traveling through the broad gate. Totally surrender yourself to Jesus no matter what the cost, and walk-the-walk. Walk-the-walk of holiness at your own choosing because your calling is a heavenly calling after your Mediator and High Priest, Christ Jesus (Hebrews 3:1). Don’t lose your salvation because you feel that you don’t have your part to do in the Covenant Agreement with God. Don’t lose it because you received the misinterpretation of Jesus having done it all for you on the cross. Don’t lose it because you think that by making choices to do what is morally right is doing the works of Law, which you cannot do anyway. Look to The Word of God for your answers, and obey them.
Salvation is hinged upon your strict adherence to or your cementation to God’s Word, thus making salvation on-going, and us living each day as though it might be the last – HOLY!
Reader, what about the many danger signals and Scripture warnings found in the Word of God and addressed to believers? Does God warn where there is no danger? Is God less consistent and reliable than our state highway department? To accuse God of such folly is unthinkable…How can Christians continue to live after the flesh and remain secure in their standing before God? (The Eternal Security Teaching. J.L. Stauffer. Bible Truth Depot, Rochester, NY, 1933, P 15.)
The Word to the Born Again Believer is to keep the commandments – all of God’s Word, if you want to enter into eternal life.
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven (Hebrews 12:23-25).
