Being Born Again

There is far more to being a Christian than simply saying "I believe Jesus is the Son of God," going to church, reading the Bible, giving to the poor, and trying to live righteous.  All that is your self-righteousness, which looks good on paper and sounds good rolling off your lips, or the lips of others about you.  On the other hand, that is, God Almighty's hand, He sees it all as dung - meaningless.  He says that it is as filthy rags.

However, the Lord has a solution for the purging of those filthy rags:  His Son, Jesus.  He sent His Son so that you might have an abundant life, that is, a life rich in holiness as He prescribes.  An abundant life or a life of holiness begins with being Born Again as the very first rung on the ladder of spiritual triumph.

"...Verily, verily, I [Jesus] say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3).

Yet, you can only be truly Born Again by first of all being sincerely regretful of your life of sin, and second, by being willing to totally surrender your will to Jesus.

Are You Ready?
If this is where you are now, with your hands lifted up toward Heaven, humbling yourself before the Lord, pray this prayer:

Father God, in Jesus’ mighty name I pray. I am a sinner who has made a mess of my life, and am sorry for all the sins I have ever committed, first against You, and then others (take a moment here to reflect on past sins). I repent of all my sins, and with Your help will never commit them again. Thank You for forgiving me of all my sins and now please take charge of my life.

Jesus, I believe that You were conceived by God's Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary. I believe that You, who knew no sin, suffered, died and was buried for my sins. I believe that on the third day You rose from the dead and now is seated at the right-hand side of Our Father in Heaven, and You will come again to rule and reign on earth. Thank You Father in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

After praying that prayer:

  1. Tell someone that you have become a Born Again Christian.

  2. Begin reading your Bible everyday.

  3. Spend time in prayer every morning and every evening.  In between those times, speak to the Lord, for He is surely there with you.

  4. Pray that God will lead you to a good Spirit-filled church.

Praise The Lord!
